I am a forever fan of Mr. There are easy to read books that are shallow, and there are harder to read books with considerable depth, but this one manages to be accessible to a fairly young reader and yet still loaded with fine writing, style, character, mystery, romance, adventure and inspiration. But everyone Kayla loves seems to wind up dead. Meditating in malls instead of monasteries, Warner becomes a monk in a minivan and calms down long enough to examine her colorful, sometimes frightening family history in a new light, ultimately making peace with her past. Many players (some successful, some not) were involved in this expansion, and keeping these sorted out was a bit challenging as the book progressed. An excellent choice.
