It was first published in 1989 and revised in 2005; this is the third edition. At this point, Shakespeare takes some liberties that many think makes for an implausible and unsatisfactory ending. I could easily connect with the main character, and there were times I almost wanted to put the book down, thinking she was about to go down the wrong road. Delightfully illustrated and filled with action for young children. I enjoyed Trilla, the main character, and I liked the character development of her. Portugal, a neutral country during WWII had lots of it and sold it to the highest bidder, usually Great Britain. Plexico created the character and invited several friends to come along and play by writing a chapter each in the first novel starring the somewhat familiar hero. But after a horrible accident, she didn’t know the difference between a hairbrush and a hammer.
